Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation Invests in Children’s Therapy at Quest
Orlando, Florida (October 26, 2009) – Quest Inc., one of the largest nonprofit organizations serving people with developmental disabilities in Central Florida, was the recipient of a $2,500 grant from The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation. The award will provide low- to moderate-income children with scholarships for therapy from the QuestKids program.
Since 1996, QuestKids has specialized in helping children with autism spectrum disorders, pervasive developmental disorder and other learning and behavior concerns with individualized one-on-one programs. The more than 50 children served by QuestKids each year receive intensive instruction in language, self-care, social skills, academics and decision-making.
Without adequate treatment, some children with these disorders may remain dependent on their caregivers and lack the basic life skills and self-esteem needed for daily functioning. Instead, the therapy provided at QuestKids enables most children to reach their personal goals, require fewer support services later in childhood and be more independent throughout their lives.
The therapy program at QuestKids is a good match for the mission of The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation, which is to build strong and vibrant communities, improve the quality of life, and make a positive difference.
